Styling and Maintaining Salon Gorgeous Hair At Home Pt.1

LePluSH! Blog

In this new year, versatility is key in my hair game.

Realistically, we carry our installed weaves for two to three weeks, sometimes four right? ( in the right conditions though...we don't want to repel people...you understand!)

However, if you invest in having some quality hair and tools, you do not have to visit the saloon within the time frame, nor do you have to look the same for the two to three or four weeks that your weave is in for.

LePluSH! Kinky 6"

Heres what i mean...

I had my 100% Human Hair by LePluSH! Kinky, 6'' installed.

Because i had installed it previously, i had it washed and colored, i did not want the same look... and i am a fan of big hair. I also love me some flicked out curls.

Upon installation, i asked that the hair be curled with a curling tong. At this point, am pretty sure people where wondering what on earth i was hoping to achieve...

I wanted short flicked out curls framing my head.  The style was achieved, and i loved it.

Pretty soon, i grew tired ;), wanted to change it up a bit (or a lot), without taking out the weave.  So i wet the hair liberally (but i had to be careful, so the water did not get on my scalp or the corn rows underneath...that would have been one itchy and probably in the long run, smelly situation).

Viola! my original kinky curls made a grand entrance!  Buuuut... that was still not the look i was going for... i could have left it at that, to achieve the regular kinky look, but i wanted more of a 'fro do.

I brushed out the curls, oiled it, and styled as desired.
The day to day styling is also pretty easy! I had an empty spray container which i poured water into.

I mixed the water with coconut oil, now we know that water and oil don't mix, but i don't like the feel of oil on my palms sometimes, so i simply shake the mixture vigorously, and immediately spray on to the weave, not my scalp. While brushing out, the oil gets distributed evenly on the hair.

I do this as often during the day as is convenient, because i like the wet look, and the weather is really dry right now.  You dont have to touch up during the day at all if you don't want to though.

Now this was what i had in my minds eye, and there are other styles one could achieve with just this one weave. Experiment a little, you'll be surprised what you might come up with...baby steps though, don't go wild (at least until you have a good grasp of what the outcome might be).

Also worthy of note is your hair/weave hygiene. I will publish another post detailing how and how often i co wash etc.
I do hope you got ideas on changing up the style/appearance of your weaves/wigs etc.
Feel free to share your style inspiration with us too.
Please remember to invest in good quality hair and tools, as these would serve you better and longer.
